A New Year – Grace Church | 2020 Year In Review

2020 began like any other year—we entered not only a new year but also a new decade.

During these early months, Grace Church celebrated 25 years of making disciples, and we continued the daily mission of working towards life change. We also celebrated 10 years of Ezer—an equipping ministry for women and by women.

God faithfully blessed us as we continued to grow through life-on-life discipleship and moved to expand our reach in the community. We’ve seen his hand at work through both personal and corporate growth in our church, and we rejoice in his faithfulness.

Sermon Series

Defined and directed by Scripture—we grew in our understanding of God’s Word this year, working our way through 1 Samuel, 2 Corinthians, and other challenging topics. We praise God for bringing us clarity, identity, and direction through his Word.

“We loved the 2 Corinthians series where we learned that life is not about comfort and ease but rather about sacrifice and serving. It was impactful to discover deeper truth about topics like generosity, discipline, and that weakness is an opportunity for God to be made much of. Our family is motivated more than ever to give of our time, resources, and talents for the Kingdom of God.”

Ezer Celebrates Ten Years

In those ten years, we’ve seen God do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine. Stories of life change that result in movement, growth, and service to others continue to shape the landscape of our church as women read, study, gather, and work to the glory of the One who made them.

Foster and Adopt Monthly Training

We were able to serve our foster and adoptive families through monthly training sessions with topics such as parenting within a transracial family. Dr. Tony and Brenda Parks helped parents navigate both the difficult and beautiful elements of raising children of color.

“The info session at Grace that we attended when we were in the process to be licensed as foster parents was so helpful in setting realistic expectations for what fostering is like. We were also introduced to other families that we could connect with when we needed support with a placement.”
