Utilizing social distancing, masks, and tents outside, we gradually found our new “normal,” and what a blessing to see one another face-to-face once more! Community groups and students took advantage of warm weather and backyard spaces, and we found creative ways to continue summer ministry both at home in the Upstate and in Allendale. While this season is still an unknown, and many of us are living week-to-week, we are thankful for a God who never changes.
On Memorial Day weekend, we began to gather again for worship in limited capacities and socially distant. Precautions were taken and tents were purchased at all our campuses to better facilitate outdoor services, mid-week Bible studies, small groups, and student ministries. Thousands of people met outside over the warm summer and fall months. Inside, we grabbed our masks and continued to listen, pray, sing, and memorize Scripture as we walked through this unknown situation.
Even during a modified, shorter version of our typical summer in Allendale County, we were still able to see the lasting influence of the gospel through Camp Impact—a summer camp for local children. This year, we saw the addition of six Junior Staff members from Allendale County who were an integral part of the discipleship process.
